Undercurrents
4’09’’, single-channel moving image, colour, stereo, 2023
Composed of archival footage depicting geological phenomena, volcanic movements, and processes of map-making, Undercurrents tells the story of a road. The narrative follows a lost traveller who, on stepping away from their linear movement, begins to notice the road in the space and time it occupies on a geological scale. Undercurrents engages with the invisible labour of infrastructure, and seeks to facilitate attention through moments of rupture where infrastructure and its language become futile.
