在兩種睡眠中間 in the middle of both sleeps is a collaboration with my partner, Echo/Yuhan.
Centred in the film are two parts of interwoven text, which the audience is guided through with shifts in tones and perspectives (accompanied by an alternating sequence of footage). Part one is a fictional conversation where two interlocutors discuss homemaking, belonging, and sense of safety while trying to figure out the strange sound that woke them up in the middle of the night (a choreographed compilation of real estate commercials representing the image of ideal families and lifestyles past and present); part two draws upon reflections on our relationship with living space (a filmed attempt to navigate in our flat), followed by fragments of interviews with our queer friends. Bringing together a composition of fictional and personal voices, the film explores queer living space as a transient and unruly collection of experiences, imaginations, and movements.
